European Year of Education through Sport.

 

Education and sport have always had a strong link: from the ancient Olympic Games to today's traditional rowing competition between the two of world's most prominent universities Oxford and Cambridge, sport and competition have always been an important part of education.

Commissioner Viviane Reding announced the objectives of this initiative at a press conference organised in Brussels in October 2003.



At the end of 2004 the European Year of Education through Sport came to an end.
