Brooks Tigner

As the Brussels-based correspondent for the last 24 years of various international media Brooks Tigner, American, has extensive experience of reporting on European Union and NATO and business affairs. In this capacity, he has worked for Defense News, Nucleonics Week and Intellibridge (US), Power in Europe (UK), and The EU Times aBrooks Tignernd International Management (INT). He is also editor of Security Europe, a new monthly newsletter in Brussels focused on EU homeland security policy, technology and business.

Brooks has an in-depth record of editing, writing, researching and analysing activities in key strategic fields, notably science, energy (gas, electricity and nuclear), aerospace, defence, finance, transport, telecommunications and other high-tech sectors. He has also had more recent experience of writing general-interest stories on research projects, including energy, for European Commission websites and publications (DGs Enterprise, Research and Environment).

He also acts as a conference rapporteur, covering proceedings in Europe’s energy, security, telecommunications and general EU social, economic and constitutional policy arenas. He has produced conference reports for Forum Europe, New Defence Agenda, ETNO, the Economic and Social Committee, the Committee of the Regions, and the European Commission (Green Week, climate change, etc), as well as on various industry themes (telecoms, security/defence and the World Influenza Congress).

Brooks Tigner has masters’ degrees from the American Graduate School of International Management and the Graduate School of Journalism of Columbia University. He speaks fluent French in addition to his native English. His books include Doing Business in Today’s Western Europe and Armies in EU Homeland Security.
