The Intelligent Energy Executive Agency (IEEA) implements the Intelligent Energy - Europe programme. With more than 40 staff, the IEEA manages the different projects and events funded under the IEE programme, and disseminates the know-how and best practices. This gives the programme a sharper focus and greater visibility. The IEEA is the first of a number of new Executive Agencies created by the European Commission to put policies into action more efficiently and with improved results, helping the Commission concentrate on its policy-making and institutional tasks. The parent Directorate-General of the IEEA is DG Energy and Transport. The decision to create the IEEA was taken at the end of 2003. Since 2006 it is fully responsible for the operation of the IEE programme and for managing its own budget. Changing Systems and Habits : the Intelligent Energy - Europe ProgrammeIntelligent Energy – Europe addresses key energy challenges of the EU : how can we take advantage of market opportunities for more renewable energy; how can we increase the uptake of new technologies for smart energy use and of more energy intelligent habits; and how can we convert EU policy on energy efficiency and renewables into action on the ground. A second Intelligent Energy – Europe programme with a significantly increased budget – about €730 million for the 2007-2013 period - was launched in 2007. This event was the first opportunity to learn about the funding priorities, budget and timetable for the coming years. It also presented the results of more than 350 ongoing projects, covering areas such as buildings, industry, transport, urban areas, consumer products, power and heat generation, and co-operation with developing countries. Europublic's creative team designed the IEEA stand and IEEA displays for various IEEA events. |
