My EUROPEJCZYCY
Reference: ISBN 83-89763-02-8
Author: Richard HILL
This follows the book’s publication in Norwegian, Portuguese and Hungarian, in addition to the original English. ![]() Jacek Santorski published the Polish edition of WeEuropeans to coincided with the accession of the country to the EU (2005). As the nation that dominates (both in size and population) the newcomers to the European Union, Poland had good reason to want to know what it was letting itself in for. The country had a special relationship with France, but that was a long time ago. More recently the Poles got a lot closer to Germany, but that is a relationship that has also had its ups and downs. But what about the other countries of the European Union? To help Poles learn who they will be cohabiting with, Santorski launched the Polish edition of Richard Hill’s ‘WeEuropeans’. This non- fictional bestseller, now in its fifth edition, describes in an anecdotal and easyto-read style the finer points that distinguish one European culture from another. It offers a penetrating and entertaining analysis of the attitudes and behavioural traits of each nationality - something that will serve the inquisitive and entrepreneurial Poles well. Speaking of the Poles in his book, Richard Hill says that they have “a humour born partly of desperation, some of them having fought off the armoured divisions of the Germans and the Russians on alternate days on horseback: the influence of Chopin made them feel gallant, if not particularly effective. They were certainly brave to the point of foolhardiness. The latter is a characteristic which survives in both behaviour and language.” Accession to the EU gave the Poles the opportunity to prove their reputation for courage again!

Geomédia Kiadói Rt. is one of Hungary's leading publishing houses for trade magazines, financial and business publications and general interest magazines. They contacted Europublic in early 1999 and the book We Europeans was translated and published within 6 months. We Europeans was their first book venture, a very successful one it seems, and their list has been growing ever since.

Vi europeere Reference: ISBN 82-91091-29-3 Author: Richard HILL This Norwegian edition was published in 1993 by LIBRETTO forlag. It came out at a time when Norwegians were trying to make up their minds about the European ideal. Maybe the book persuaded them that the whole 'ball of wax' was far too complicated for simple folk like them...
