A Danish national, working in Brussels and living in Spain, Hans Martens has spent most of his working life across Europe, but with a focus on European affairs. Hans Martens Hans graduated in Political Science from the University of Aarhus, Denmark, and has since then worked in finance and with international affairs.

In 1989 Hans established his own company, Martens International Consulting, working for the European Commission in East and Central Europe, and assisting major European and US companies on European strategy and management training. He was also a Senior Advisor to the European Policy Centre and a frequent speaker for visitors to the European Commission.

In 2002 Hans was appointed Chief Executive of the European Policy Centre, an independent not-for-profit think tank committed to making European integration work. In this function he has a broad and up-to-the-minute overview of European affairs.

He is an associate of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and has been working extensively with major management centres in Europe, such as Ashridge Management College and Sundridge Park in the UK. He has besides that working experience from a wide range of business cultures from China and Malaysia via Central Asia, Russia and Ukraine plus nearly all European countries (East and West) to the US.

Hans has edited a Guide to EU Funding for the European Commission's office in Copenhagen for a number of years (presently in its sixth edition), and has written a number of books on European and international affairs, public procurement, the Single Market and EMU.
