Dr. John Alexander

John AlexanderJohn Alexander has worked as an international management consultant since the early 1990s following 20 years in publishing, film, television and journalism. In 1998 he was nominated 'Speaker of the Year' by the Institute for International Research.

Now based in Sweden he speaks at seminars and workshops for private-sector companies and public organisations, as well as lecturing at universities and colleges throughout Europe. He has worked and lived for long periods in France and Iceland, and has travelled in the Middle East, the Far East, the US and in Europe, west and east.

John lectures in English and Swedish and is also accustomed to making presentations in Denmark and Norway in what he calls 'SAS skandinaviska'. He also speaks some French and German.

Born in Australia in 1952, John Alexander came to Europe in the 1970s, living mainly in the UK and working in the publishing industry, and then moved to Stockholm where he completed a PhD in Narratology/Media Studies. He has made specialised cultural studies of Scandinavia, Russia and Japan and, in 2000, worked as cultural advisor to the Swedish Olympic Team prior to the Sydney Olympics.

John Alexander is a frequent guest on Swedish television and radio, debating subjects ranging from new management trends to media and cultural issues. He has had articles published in newspapers and journals in Australia, Great Britain and Scandinavia and lectures at a number of Scandinavian universities and colleges on media and cultural studies.

His books include How Swedes Manage, A Nordic Community?, The Inside Story - How Storytelling Inspires Change in Companies Organisations and People, as well as university text books on media studies and general-market cinema titles.
