Sabine Amend

A German national residing in the USA, Sabine Amend is an experienced intercultural professional, having lived and worked in the UK, the People's Republic of China and her native Germany, and travelled extensively in Europe, Mexico and South Africa. She has a Master's degree in European Management awarded by Brunel University, London, in 1998.

Sabine left Germany in 1984 after finishing her A levels. From then until 1990 she lived in the UK and gained a BA degree in Chinese and History from London University, School of Oriental and African Studies. She also spent a year in the People's Republic of China, studying Chinese language and culture, as well as helping western business people deal with their Chinese counterparts and official bodies.

Back in Germany, Sabine Amend joined an international airline association, with members in more than 70 countries, where she was responsible for communication with the membership as well as with official bodies at the European level. She then went on to work for the State of Virginia on American-German business promotion before joining the Carl-Duisberg Centre GmbH in Cologne as their manager for international business training.

In 1998 Sabine started her own business, Kultur & Management, providing intercultural training and consulting services to large international corporations such as DaimlerChrysler, Linde, and Gerling Insurance.

Sabine Amend is an active public speaker to academic, business and other public audiences on topics such as the future of Europe, international management education, transatlantic mergers, international HR management. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of SIETAR Europe, the NGO specialising in intercultural issues.
