Our piece in the last newsletter about British ignorance of Belgium and the Belgians produced a number of responses. Here's what one of our readers - a Belgian national and appropriately anonymous here - had to say:

"I happened to be at a reception in London yesterday, at the Royal Cavalry and Guards Club. I was absolutely flabbergasted by the ignorance and arrogance of some top officials, including Foreign Office people, about the EU and Belgians. I obviously had read the press and was not surprised by the stupidity of the tabloids, including 'The Daily Telegraph'. But the rude mockery of educated people was unheard of and very upsetting…"
